DRIVING RANGE - LAKES RESORT
Come on out and practise your swing. The Lakes Resort driving range is open to the public and features a natural grass surface with target greens. The driving range is surrounded by forestry and elevated looking from the west to the east.

CLIMB TO THE TOP OF MOUNT PAUANUI
Not for the faint hearted this is a fairly strenuous climb but well worth the effort. Located at the south end of the beach the Mount Pauanui summit offers stunning views north over the beach and the rest of Pauanui. |

EXPERIENCE THE THRILL OF TANDEM SKYDIVING
Leap from a plane at 9000 feet strapped on to an experienced tandem pilot and freefall at speeds of over 200km/hr. Your Tandem pilot will open the parachute and guide you back to dropzone for a gentle landing.

TENNIS
Sixteen tennis courts are situated across Pauanui in four locations, Kennedy Park (Map Ref D2), Gallagher Park (Map Ref H3), Waterways Parade (Map Ref I-6) and Sheppard Ave (Map Ref F4). All courts are accessed using tokens, which can be bought from the Club.

GOLF
Pauanui has three fantastic golf courses to choose from, two are located in the heart of Pauanui and the third is located nearby on the Hikuai Settlement Road as you drive into Pauanui.
The Pines is a challenging nine hole course situated amongst the pine trees adjacent to the Pauanui airstrip. Green fees are payable at the ProShop at The Pauanui Sports and Recreation Club, (Map Ref G-4). The Lakes is another nine hole course situated beside stage one of the Waterways on The Dividend, (Map Ref H-5). Memberships for the Pines and the Lakes courses are available from the Club.
Lakes Resort is a stunning eighteen hole international golf course. Situated just outside of Pauanui. Lakes Resort is a premier golfing resort and residential community.

MINI GOLF
One of New Zealands original ‘Crazy Golf’ courses the Pauanui Mini Putt was established back in 1975. Regular upgrades have ensured the course has maintained its appeal and is as popular as ever as a family attraction. |

CLIMB PAKU
Paku is the volcanic peak which dominates the Tirua side of the harbour entrance. A steep but short 15 minute walk will see you at the summit looking down on the famous view across Pauanui. It is accessed from the car park at the end of Paku Drive, Tirua. There are also some great views of the coast looking north. |

SKATEBOARDING
If you are into skating check out the awesome skate park at the Sheppard Ave end of the airfield. |

FLAT ROCK/CAVE BAY WALK
Ten minutes to Flat Rock and 20 minutes to Cave Bay this is an easy walk, which leaves the southern end of the beach at the end of Pauanui Beach Road. The track undulates gently through the bush with some rock hopping from Flat Rock through to Cave Bay. There are great views along the track looking back along the beach.

PRACTISE FOR THE SAND CASTLE COMPETITION
One of the most popular events from the summer series programme is the sandcastle competition. There are some great prizes and some pretty amazing creations. If you think you may want to enter why not get down to the beach and plan your entry. |

SURFING
Pauanui has a couple of good breaks when the swell picks up. Outside the surf club is usually quite good as is the southern end of the beach (Pauanui Beach Road). Every now and then in heavier swells the sand bar at the entrance produces some impressive waves. |

VISIT TAIRUA BY FERRY
During summer the Tairua Ferry provides a continuous all day service between the Tairua Wharf, the Paku jetty and Pauanui departing from the Royal Billy Point jetty. When you have exhausted all the Pauanui shops and cafes a quick visit over to Tairua for some extra supplies or a change of scene makes a pleasant outing. |

KAYAKING
Pauanui is a great place to get out on the water in a kayak. The habour is great to explore and it is an easy trip across to Tairua or if you are after more of a work out then head up the river or out the entrance to play in the waves. Its also interesting to paddle up and down the waterways development to admire some amazing houses and boats. |

CYCLING
The compact size of Pauanui means that cycling is the perfect mode of transport and you can get anywhere in a matter of minutes. You really can arrive, park your car and not drive it again until its time to leave. |

PAUANUI CIRCUIT WALK
As the title suggests this walk is circular so can be started and finished at any point along the way. A great walk for those new to Pauanui and takes about 2 hours. From the southern end of the beach taken Pauanui Beach Road, turn left into Holland Close, left into Hikuai Settlement Road. Take the walkway via the Yard Arm to Waterways Parade, at the end turn right and follow the harbour edge past Pleasant Point to Billy Point and finish with the final stretch along the ocean beach. |
